Benromach Distillery, which has pleasantly surprised myself several times in recent years. Established in 1898 by the Benromach Distillery Company, the distillery changed ownership multiple times in its early years and has been mothballed several times throughout its history. In 1998, Gordon & MacPhail acquired the distillery and reopened it. Since then, it has remained operational under the same ownership.
Tonight's whisy gathered positive attention in its release year, both within Finnish whisky communities and in several whisky blogs. It's none other than the Vintage 2012 Cask Strength Batch 01. For me, it was the whisky of the year in terms of pure value for money. An incredibly fine whisky, bottled at 60.2% strength, and one of my personal favorites from this year's calendar.
