Once again, the Irish soil beckons. Surprisingly, there have been quite a few Irish whiskies in the calendar. The goal was, in part, to diversify the participants' whisky palate, and hopefully, to some extent, we have succeeded.
Today, we delve into the world of Jameson, and this might indeed raise a few eyebrows among the participants. Jameson is undoubtedly familiar to most whisky enthusiasts, being the best-selling Irish whiskey, founded in 1780.
However, it's not just your typical Jameson in the glass. Poured into the glass is the Jameson Black Barrel Proof release from 2021. Bottled at 50% ABV, it has matured in American oak barrels, ex-sherry casks, and charred bourbon barrels. The batch size is 2500 bottles, not the smallest batch but by no means a massive one either.
